Yes, for municipal, borewell and tanker supply, as long as the incoming water is under 1,500 TDS. IAPMO India tested it on feed water from 250 to 1,500 mg/L at three hardness levels each, and the ten purification stages deal with microbes, chlorine and particles before the CDI cell does its work.

An RO membrane separates by size, so it removes contaminants and much of the natural minerals together, and sends roughly three litres to the drain for every litre you drink. Biofier’s patented CDI uses electrically charged surfaces to selectively pull out the unwanted dissolved ions, retaining more essential minerals and recovering up to 70% of the water.*

That is what the independent tests were for. TÜV SÜD analysed both waters from the same supply: Biofier water carried more calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate than the RO beside it, with every reading inside the Indian drinking-water standard. In the 15-day germination study, the seeds grown on Biofier water sprouted more, grew 42.1% longer by day seven and finished with more minerals in the plant.*

A remineralisation cartridge sits after the membrane: the RO first strips almost everything out, then a consumable doses a few selected minerals back in, at a rate that depends on the cartridge and its age. Biofier never removes them in the first place, so the water keeps more of its own natural mineral profile. One rebuilds water. The other preserves it.

The CDI chamber captures charged dissolved impurities, such as excess salts, sodium, chlorides, nitrate and dissolved heavy-metal ions, on its electrodes and flushes them away when it regenerates. Before that, a microbe-deactivating filter neutralises bacteria and viruses, activated carbon removes chlorine, odours and organic compounds, and sediment stages catch particles. Ten stages, each with one job.

A conventional RO can discharge around three litres for every litre it purifies.
