What is a Sewage Submersible Pump?

Sewage submersible pumps transport untreated wastewater and sewage water, such as raw wastewater. These submersible pumps are commonly used in treating municipal wastewater treatment plants and also in the houses and buildings that are not connected to municipal sewer because of natural slop. These are rugged and heavy-duty pumps manufactured with durable materials like stainless steel. These sewage submersible pumps consist of rotating impellers that function inside the stationary casing. There are five types of sewage water pump available in the market which includes submersible motor pumps with a single vane impeller, torque flow pumps, pump for dry installation, pumps with diagonal impeller and closed coupled pumps.

Sewage water pump are energy saviours which makes them customer-appealing. They are flexible and easy to move in different directions either horizontally or vertically according to the direction of the pump stator. Made of high-quality shafts, dual mechanical seals and thermal protection devices these pumps are energy efficient and power efficient. Sewage pump 1 hp maintain their performance at a 100% duty cycle as they are corrosion resistant, self-priming, explosion-proof, and portable. Hence, the sewage water pumps are durable, long-lasting and ideal for applications.

How does a Sewage Submersible Pump Work?

A sewage submersible pump transfers sewage liquids and solids from one place to another. When it comes to residential, sewages compose of soft solids that usually have a diameter of up to 2 inches. The sewage is pushed forward from the sewage basin to a sewer system or a septic tank. The submersible sewage pump is set at the lowest point of the sewage basin and is usually submerged in most cases, hence, it is referred to as a submersible sewage pump. These sewage pumps can be manual, dual-mode, or automatic.

The dual sewage water pump has a piggyback plug; that allows the pump water to be a manual or automatic pump. The manual pump bypasses the switch and is directly plugged into the socket, while the automatic pump is plugged in using a floating switch which works when you have the switch on. It is always recommended not to use the submersible manual sewage water pump in the sewage basin due to the sewage overflow. The motor of the pump rotates the impeller when you turn off the pump and this creates pressure which pushes the flow of water upwards to the impeller to discharge the pipe. The pump is usually powered up to a 10 to 25 feet electric rod.

Features and Benefits of Sewage Water Pumps

Crompton’s submersible sewage water pumps offer some amazing benefits which include single-phase power, float switch, corrosion protection, efficiently handling of waste and warranty. Let’s look at the features and benefits of Sewage Water Pumps:

1. It is a single-phase pump which is used for activities that require low power requirements. Crompton’s single phase pump has a float switch which makes automatic operation possible.

2. The level of the fluid in the pump can be detected with the float switch and when the level of water rises or falls beyond a certain limit, the electricity supplied to the sewage pump can also be turned off and on.

3. Corrosion leads to damage which ultimately decreases the durability of the pump. Crompton sewage water pump comes with a coated CED that has a special characteristic of being anti-rust in nature. It makes sure that the pump is protected from corrosion thereby increasing its longevity.

4. The efficiency of the pump also increases with the prevention of corrosion and this corrosion leads to significant savings since you won’t have to face the hassle of replacing the pump frequently.

5. Fibrous solids disrupt the liquid flow in the pump by clogging it and it is the reason why the cutter range is used in Crompton’s pump. Using a highly efficient and reliable mechanism, these water pumps can handle the fibrous solid effectively.

6. Apart from all the features and benefits offered by Crompton’s pump, you will also be benefited from a warranty of 12 months.

7. To choose the right one, you need to understand clearly and precisely the specifications of the pump and these specifications include the power, supply phase, head range and discharge range. Your choice will be ideally based on your recommendations.

8. The power of the sewage submersible pump is between 0.1 to 10 KiloWatt and if you want some with a high power you can go for a higher kW or Hp. The flow of water is determined by the size of the pump.

9. The larger the size of the pump, the greater the flow of water. If you want to save more, you can go for a larger pump. The head range will determine the vertical distance and the discharge range will determine the horizontal distances to which the water can be pumped.

Sewage Submersible Pump FAQs

1. What is the difference between a Sewage Pump and a Grinder Pump?

There are certain sewage pumps which are grinder pumps too, but grinder pumps are the subtype of a sewage pump.

2. How far can a sewage pump push?

A sewage pump can pump up to a distance of 750 feet.

3. What is the most common type of pump used in water and wastewater systems?

The centrifugal sewage water pump, progressive cavity and positive displacement are the most common types of pumps used in water and wastewater systems.
