The Ultimate Mixer Grinder Buying Guide 2022

  • 8 March

One appliance that is indispensable in every Indian Kitchen is a mixer grinder. Commonly called a mixie, or simply grinder, it is one of the basic appliances you absolutely cannot do without! From prepping purees, grinding coconuts for chutneys or blending smoothies, your mixer can handle every cooking need.

Over the years, mixer grinders have improved a lot. They have become smaller in size, lighter and easier to use. Let’s look at the factors that need to be considered before buying a mixer grinder.

1. Choosing the correct wattage

When choosing the best mixer grinder, wattage is the primary aspect that needs your utmost attention. Usually, mixer grinders from 500-watts to 750-watts are ideal for everyday kitchen use. Our Ritz mixer grinder has a 750 watt capacity. You can use higher wattage models for grinding tougher ingredients.

Crompton’s mixer grinders come with a Powertron motor to ensure optimum energy utilisation with maximum grinding results. This motor is designed for a longer usage to suit consumer requirements.

 2. Number of bundled jars

Choosing a mixer with 3-4 sturdy jars is best because a single jar is insufficient for all your cooking needs. Crompton’s Ameo and Gleamer range of mixers come with 3 premium quality stainless steel jars and a blender jar with a fruit filter. These mixers come with Maxi Grind Technology which ensures minimum dead spaces and facilitates the radial and axial flow for faster and smooth grinding. Additionally, the jars’ handles and controls are ergonomically designed, keeping ease of usage in mind.

 3. The speed that won’t let you down

A mixer grinder’s revolutions per minute (RPM) is an essential factor. Anything from 18000 to 23000 RPM for a domestic mixer grinder is good enough. A juicer mixer grinder will ideally require low to medium RPM. Look for mixer grinders with a speed control knob to change the speed settings. Control knob or switch helps you to adjust grinding speed seamlessly.

Crompton’s mixers offer premium and smartly designed knobs for varying speed needs with maximum control and ease of operation.

 4. Sleek and Compact Design

Design aesthetics also play an essential role when choosing the best mixer grinder. Crompton mixers come in sleek modern designs to match the varying decor of your kitchen. The modern designs and the functional needs make Crompton mixers an unmissable part of your kitchen.

To temper the chutney :

– ½ teaspoon urad dal

– ½ teaspoon mustard seeds

– 1 whole dried red chilli

– 10-12 curry leaves

1. Add the grated coconut, roasted chana dal, green chillies, ginger, lemon juice, salt and water in a jar of Crompton Ameo Neo mixer. Blend until smooth.

2. Once the chutney mixture reaches your desired texture, transfer it to a bowl.

3. Now, for tempering the chutney, place a small pan on the induction cooktop. Then, add the oil to the pan.

4. As the oil heats, fry the urad dal until it turns mild golden. Follow this by adding mustard seeds, dried red chilli and curry leaves. Let it sputter for a few seconds.
